Category
Fashion Sociology & Research
Duration
12-13 weeks
Description
This project explored the "poverty as performance" phenomenon, investigating why luxury brands and high-net-worth individuals adopt visual cues from disadvantaged groups. Through a combination of primary interviews and social media analysis, the research examined how distressed aesthetics are commodified into "cultural capital" and the underlying motivations driving this controversial trend.
